LINKS AND RESOURCES

This is currently the link for supporting families through

distance learning in BC. There are many extra resources, ideas, and information on learning from home.

Language Arts

ABCYA has fun literacy games that may require some adult support. I have linked to the "pre-k" section, as it most aligns with kindergarten curriculum in Canada.

Reading Rockets has lots of games, tips for parents, and a variety of Language Art targeted practice to do at home or in school.

Story workshop/studio is something I do in the class to encourage oral language development, teach story elements, and have students use their creativity. This website lays out how to try it at home.

Raz-Kids is an online reading program that is now free for teachers and families. You can sign up your own family, or send me an email and I will add your student to my class list.

Mathematics

Education.com contains many engaging math games to play at home.

This website has more math games with good visuals and a variety of math subjects. I like that there is no reading involved for the students while they play the games.

Art

These are some of my favourite directed drawings. I find them to be simple enough that they can sometimes look at the instructions on their own.

Mo WIllems is the author of one of the most popular Kindergarten read aloud series. He is hosting videos from home on how to draw his beloved characters.

This website contains a lot of directed drawings and video tutorials on how to draw different things. In class, students love these.
